Research
Dr. Wong is vice chairman of research and chief of medical physics in the Department of Radiology as well as director of the Bioinformatics Program and senior member at the Methodist Hospital Research Institute in Houston, TX. His research focuses on multi-scale imaging and computational systems biology techniques to develop quantitative biomarkers and decipher complex disease mechanisms. Dr. Wong's laboratory also develops novel tools and solutions for surgical planning, image-guided therapy, drug discovery, and clinical diagnosis. Dr. Wong has published more than 200 peer-reviewed papers and holds seven patents in biomedical technology. He serves on several NIH and NSF panels, non-profit organizations advisory boards, numerous journal editorial boards and conference program committees.

Education and experience
Dr. Wong has more than 20 years of R&D experience with HP, AT&T Bell Labs, Japanese Fifth Generation Computer Systems project, Royal Philips Electronics, Charles Schwab, UCSF, and Harvard. Early in his career, Dr. Wong’s highly productive work in optical time-domain reflectometer, VLSI automation, and parallel knowledge processing positioned him as a leader in biomedical engineering.

Prior to joining the Methodist Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical College in April 2007, Dr. Wong was associate professor of radiology and executive director of the Functional and Molecular Imaging Center-Biomedical Imaging Core Resources at Brigham & Women's Hospital – a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School; a faculty member of the Dana Farber Harvard Cancer Center in Boston, MA; and director of the Center of Bioinformatics at the Harvard Center of Neurodegeneration and Repair, Harvard Medical School.

From 1999 to 2002, Dr. Wong received his executive education from MIT Sloan School of Management, Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He was a technical leader of the highly-successful UCSF PACS program, led product development departments of Philips Medical Systems, directed the on-line trading development of Schwab.com – one of the largest secured eCommerce sites, and founded two new research centers at Harvard, in Bioinformatics and in Molecular Imaging. He received a doctorate in Computer Science in 1991 and masters in Computer Science and Engineering in 1989 from Lehigh University.
